Hi everyone,

Thank you for the love and support you've offered my family and I since I lost my limbs after complications due to malaria, it is hard to believe it will be two years in
February.  My recovery is challenging, yet I am fortunate to be surrounded with awesome friends and family who believe in me and encourage me to "Never Never Never Give Up."

So along this new path I've encountered amazing individuals who have gone above and beyond to offer their time and help with the transformation of the idea of a non-profit organization to help combat malaria to an actual 501c3 organization titled America Against Malaria.  I became extremely interested in malaria of course after contracting malaria in Feb 08, and with my nursing background I felt compelled to help the children in Africa whom die because of malaria.

America Against Malaria is planning in the future to structure an educational facility devoted to malaria in an endemic region in Africa. In the meantime we will be applying donated funds toward the purchase of supplies to assist with the education, prevention and treatment of malaria in Africa. Please check out our website at
www.americaagainstmalaria.org to view our mission for further details and to donate to our organization.

We are doing a fundraiser at Jewel grocery stores called "Shop and Share" for America Against Malaria during the first three weeks of December each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the dates are Nov 30 - Dec 2, Dec 7 - 9, and Dec 14 -16.  Shop at Jewel on the dates listed and five percent of your total bill is donated to our organization. We will send out an e-mail after Thanksgiving that will contain an attachment you can print out to present at the time of purchase at Jewel.

We will post upcoming fundraising events on our website in the Events section and in Dawn's Blog section, on facebook and via e-mail. I'm awaiting to hear on the publishing date from The Chicago Tribune for a story about myself, limb loss, malaria and the non-profit, so I will keep you posted when that occurs.

Please check out our website, contact us with any questions, and share this information with your friends and family.  Donations are tax exempt and will be accepted on-line by credit/debit cards via Pay-Pal and/or by check, mail to America Against Malaria, PO Box 4, Frankfort, IL 60423.

Next week I'm interviewing to return back to work as a Case Manager at Children's Memorial Hospital, and I'm applying to the University of Illinois for the Fall 2010 semester to earn a Master of Science in Nursing.  I'm walking slowly with prosthetics and may have to undergo surgery in 2010 to increase the range of motion in my right leg to improve my gait.

Have a safe, healthy and happy Holiday Season! Thanks again for your support. :)

Thank you,
